Welcome 2018!
A Letter from the President

As we begin 2018, I wanted to take a moment to thank each of you for your support of AIGA Chattanooga last year. It was amazing to see everyone at our All Member Meeting & Party last month, and I’d like to recap our accomplishments over 2017 and get you excited about 2018.

  • New board members
  • Closed the year with 60 members
  • Hosted 5 events
  • Partnered with local/national businesses

We took a significant chunk of the year building new foundations internally, having conversations with our community and creating new partnerships, and planning for a full 2018.

In December our board had the privilege of hosting Nick Prestileo and Sarah Burns-Miller in Chattanooga to discuss the state of our chapter and introduce them to our members. As many of you know, our local chapter is made possible not only by our local members and volunteers but also through the support of AIGA National. It was an honor to spend time with Nick and Sarah as we discussed our local accomplishments, struggles, and ideas for the future. Spending time with them one-on-one reaffirmed our love for Chattanooga and our passion for pushing design right here at home. The network of friendship, support, and family with chapters all across the U.S. is invaluable for our board.

So what can you look forward to from us in 2018?

We already have 9 events on the calendar, and one of those being our first ever Women in Leadership conference, a new event called “No Go Logo”, and we’re experimenting with a book club coming Summer 2018. We plan to have a handful of events in between and will start to wrap up our year with a wonderful Design for Good partnership with Make a Wish Foundation called “GUTS”. Please check out our tentative agenda for 2018.

If you can’t tell, we’re utterly excited for the coming year and encourage you to consider making an effort to be more involved in AIGA Chattanooga as a New Year’s resolution. Our work as a board truly focuses on our members and what we can do for you. So, come out to more events, and let us know how you can volunteer your time. If you aren’t a member, please consider signing up, or if you haven’t renewed in a while—think about rejoining. We need your help to keep making awesome things happen! We’re also on the lookout for a super cool Directors to help us grow our chapters functionality.

I’d like to thank my board for a fantastic job in 2017 and to thank all of you again. Please feel free to email me with any questions or ideas you may have for AIGA Chattanooga.
